Dr. Lily Yumagulova has lived experience and professional experience with disasters and displacement. Her academic and professional background includes emergency management, risk analysis, and planning. Lily brings over 20 years of experience in government, NGOs, media, Indigenous communities, and international organizations in Europe and North America. She is the Program Director for the Preparing Our Home Program which empowers Indigenous youth leadership in community resilience. Lily's research as a Banting Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Saskatchewan focused on Indigenous self-determination in evacuations and planned relocation. She continues this work as a Research Associate at the University of British Columbia.
