Wihdat claim close win at sixth round of CFI Jordan Pro League
(MENAFN) The 6th round of the CFI Jordan Pro League witnessed Wihdat comeback to winning streak with a slim 1-0 victory over Jazeera at Amman International Stadium on Friday.
Wihdat got off to a strong start, creating several chances, while Jazeera countered with two threatening opportunities that were blocked by a strong Wihdat defence. In the 36th minute, the first half’s most dramatic moment came, when Wihdat saw a squall of 3 shots blocked, one of which shaken the crossbar. Just two minutes later, Jazeera almost amazed the hosts as Moses Twum’s headed shot also hit the bar.
The intensity was maintained in the 2nd half of the game. Wihdat demanded for a penalty around the hour mark, but the referee allowed play to continue. Moments later, Jazeera's Mahmoud Jamal wasted a golden opportunity to score, failing to make contact with a low cross right in front of the net.
Mohammed Mawaly's 72nd-minute goal ultimately secured the win for Wihdat.
Even though he had 3 more golden opportunities, Wihdat could not extend their lead but remained steadfast reaching the end. The victory raised them to 10 points in 5th place, while Jazeera remained on 7 points in 6th place.
