Arab League: Doha Summit Reflects Solidarity Against Israeli Occupation Aggression

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Sept 14 (KUNA) -- Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Media and Communication Sector at the Arab League, Ambassador Ahmad Khattabi, affirmed on Sunday that the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit, to be held tomorrow in Doha, represents a message of solidarity to stop Israeli occupation aggression.
Khattabi said in a statement that the summit comes at a time when Arab and Islamic public opinion is looking for a firm stance against the aggression, amid a favorable international context and growing support during the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.
He noted that current developments in the Middle East, especially in light of positions expressed before the UN General Assembly supporting the two-state solution, and the Security Council meeting following the Israeli occupation attack on Qatar, show the occupation's increasing isolation internationally.
He added that after almost two years of war on Gaza and its catastrophic consequences, the world has realized realities that the Israeli occupation's false narrative attempted to conceal, particularly after the October 7 events, making the UN General Assembly vote politically and morally symbolic.
He stressed that the overwhelming support for this resolution, welcomed by the Arab League, is a diplomatic gain of deep significance and a practical step by the international community toward ending the war in Gaza and related atrocities.
Khattabi said that after eight decades of Palestinian suffering and attempts to erase their national identity, which reached unprecedented levels during the current catastrophe in Gaza, the time has come for decisive action to establish an independent Palestinian state.
He emphasized the need for a sustainable solution based on the two-state framework, away from extremist ideologies, expansionist ambitions, and outdated myths that ignore international laws, norms, and historical facts.
Khattabi warned that Gaza, which has become a graveyard for thousands of innocent civilians, should not also become a graveyard for international law, whose credibility is at stake because of this war.
He underlined that international support for Qatar reflects genuine awareness of the seriousness of the blatant attack on its sovereignty and the undermining of its respected humanitarian and mediation role, which has strengthened its international standing.
He added that Qatar, alongside Egypt and the United States, worked to facilitate prisoner exchange operations in line with international humanitarian law, exerting enormous diplomatic efforts during a devastating war that destroyed infrastructure and caused thousands of casualties. (end)
