‘Block Everything’ rallies result in hundreds of detentions in France

(MENAFN) On Thursday, a French news agency revealed that the authorities detained 675 citizens all over France throughout the day of the 10th of September in “Block Everything” rallies. The Paris district alone has arrested 280 persons.

Citing the Interior Ministry, 549 of these detainees were taken into police custody after the events throughout the night between Wednesday and Thursday.
The Police Chief in Paris, Laurent Nunez, stated that new arrests took place due to conflicts in the capital, specifically at Place des Fetes.

He informed a news agency that "this morning we have 280 arrests, including a large number of people in police custody". He added that 164 people were still in prison as of Thursday morning.

Nunez described the rally movement as a 'failure', mentioning that no significant blockade happened in spite “numerous, numerous attempts”.

He stated that around 10 failed efforts were made to close the Paris ring road, a failed attempt to storm Gare du Nord railway station, and scattered disturbances at high schools and bus stations.
