Brazil's Independence Day Celebrated In Oman

(MENAFN- Brazil-Arab News Agency (ANBA)) São Paulo – The Brazilian Embassy in Muscat , Oman, held an event on Monday (8) to celebrate Brazil's Independence Day, observed on September 7. The gathering was attended by around 200 people, including Omani businesspeople and politicians, in a delegation led by the Minister of Energy and Minerals, Salim bin Nasser bin Said Al Aufi.

The host of the event, Brazil's ambassador to Muscat, Alfredo Leoni, said the occasion marked Brazil's 203^rd Independence Day. In a conversation with the head of the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC ) office in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Rafael Solimeo, Leoni noted the two countries have maintained diplomatic relations for 51 years, highlighting the“coincidence of thinking alike.” The ABCC was also represented by the Dubai office's account executive Noury Dweidary.

Leoni also noted that Brazilian miner Vale has an iron ore processing and export unit in the Sohar industrial, free-trade, and port zone, which receives ore from Brazil and re-exports it to various countries. He remarked that Vale is“extremely important” for Brazil and has also become significant for Oman due to its presence in the Gulf country.

“This brings our bilateral trade to over USD 2 billion, which is a significant amount, and Vale plays a very positive role in terms of relations with local authorities and the local business community,” he said.“Omanis are paying more and more attention to Brazil, and vice versa,” the diplomat added. According to Solimeo, company representatives at the event included Vale's and Embraer's.
