Outbreak Of Conjunctivitis And Livestock Diseases Sparks Alarm In Tirah Valley
An outbreak of conjunctivitis is rapidly spreading in Tirah Maidan of Khyber district, while livestock are also dying from foot-and-mouth disease and other infections, leaving farmers in distress. Locals have urged the Health Department and Livestock authorities to take immediate action.
According to details, Chairman of Village Council 70 Warsak Shalobar, Noor Haleem Afridi, told Youn News that over the past several weeks, conjunctivitis has affected dozens of residents across different areas of Tirah Maidan, causing severe discomfort.
He further said that cattle, buffaloes, and other livestock are suffering from foot-and-mouth disease and various epidemics, leading to large numbers of animal deaths. This has not only caused a sharp decline in production but has also pushed farmers into serious financial hardship.
Noor Haleem Afridi appealed to the Health Department, Livestock and Dairy Development Department, and elected representatives to immediately dispatch medical teams to Tirah Maidan to prevent further losses for the local population.
