Trump Demands Death Penalty for Killer of Ukrainian Woman

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump has called for the death penalty for Decarlos Brown, who viciously stabbed 23-year-old Ukrainian woman Iryna Zarutska on a train in Charlotte, North Carolina last month.

The case surged into the national spotlight after CCTV footage emerged over the weekend, capturing the brutal attack. The 34-year-old assailant is seen striking Zarutska from behind shortly after she sat down, repeatedly stabbing her in the neck. She bled to death at the scene soon after the assault.

The attack appears unprovoked, with no interaction between the two prior to the stabbing, according to the video.

In a Wednesday post on his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote: “The ANIMAL who so violently killed the beautiful young lady from Ukraine… should be given a ‘Quick’ (there is no doubt!) Trial, and only awarded THE DEATH PENALTY.”

Earlier on Monday, Trump described Brown as a “mentally deranged lunatic,” highlighting that the suspect had been arrested multiple times over the past decade but was consistently released on cashless bail.

Trump asserted, “the blood of this innocent woman… is on the hands of the Democrats who refuse to put bad people in jail.”

At a Tuesday press briefing, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt detailed Brown’s criminal record, stating that since 2011, he has faced charges including armed robbery, felony larceny, breaking and entering, and has forfeited bonds at least three times.

Despite this history, Brown was freed in January after a Democratic judge’s order, who released him on the condition he “sign a written promise to return for his court hearing.”

Leavitt condemned, “Democrats in North Carolina and nationwide are consumed with pushing a woke, soft on-crime agenda no matter how many innocent Americans suffer as a result.”

This development follows Trump’s August directive to deploy National Guard troops in Washington DC amid surging violent crime—a move met with criticism from local Democrats.

Last week, the president signaled potential deployment of National Guard forces to Chicago, again igniting fierce Democratic opposition.
