AEO, AGU Sign Mou For Cooperation In Research, Tech. Development In Energy Sector

MANAMA, Sept 10 (KUNA) -- The Arab Energy Organization and the Arabian Gulf University on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for boosting cooperation in education and scientific research as well as technical development in the energy sector.
AEO Secretary General Jamal Al-Loughani and the AGU rector, Dr. Saad Al-Fehaid, co-inked the MoU at the university headquarters.
It aims at setting up frameworks of cooperation in the fields of scientific research, organizing conferences, seminars and workshops, exchanging expertise and information, organizing training courses, technical consultation, along with emphasis on environmental issues, innovation, green technology in the petroleum industries.
Moreover, the memo covers cooperation in joint research in the energy, environmental and development sectors, backing up innovational and distinctive initiatives through the holding of awarding competitions.
The two sides, according to the MoU, will cooperate for publishing scientific and technical information in the realms of executive teaching, higher studies, in addition to promoting activities of joint concern via the media, as well as benefiting from digital libraries and swapping modern resources of knowledge.
Dr. Al-Fehaid said, during the inking ceremony, the memo is a step forward on path of cementing the partnership between higher educational institutions and regional energy entities.
Cooperation with the AEO would be helpful to guide the scientific research for serving issues of sustainable development, and environmental development in the Arab world, create promising opportunities to build potentials, exchange know-how and experience with elite experts and specialists in this vital realm, he said.
For his part, Al-Loughani said this step mirrors the two entities' keenness on building strategic partnerships to serve priorities of development in the Arab states through employment of knowledge and modern technology to enhance efficiency of the energy sector and preserve the environment. (end)
