Amman, Sept. 9 (Petra) -- Jordan has strongly condemned Israeli airstrikes targeting several areas in Syria's Homs and Latakia provinces, denouncing the attacks as a "flagrant violation of international law" and a "dangerous escalation" undermining Syria's sovereignty, security, and stability.
In a statement on Tuesday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Fouad Al-Majali called for an immediate end to repeated Israeli assaults, warning that such actions breach the UN Charter and contravene Israel's obligations under the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.
Al-Majali reaffirmed Jordan's firm stance in support of Syria, stressing the Kingdom's solidarity with Damascus in safeguarding its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the security of its people. He underscored that Syria's stability remains a cornerstone of peace and security across the wider region.
The ministry also urged the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities by taking effective measures to compel Israel to cease its aggression and ongoing grave violations of international law, humanitarian law, and UN Security Council resolutions.
