Chicago Mayor Rejects Anew Security Campaign In The City

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON, Sept 9 (KUNA) -- Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has re-affirmed his rejection of the security campaign masterminded by the US Administration in the city to crack down on illegal immigrants and criminals.
The operation is a wrong solution to a real problem, the mayor said in an article published by the mass circulation, the New York Times.
Lowering crime rates in the city does not warrant "occupying" the city by the National Guard, he said denying remarks by President Donald Trump that the crimes in the city have been mounting, adding that Chicago is safer than it was in the 60s.
The security authorities have declared a wide-scale campaign in Chicago to clamp down on illegal immigrants and combat crime.
Trump has pledged to "clean up" the US cities from crime. (end)
