Al Subaie Meets Executive Secretary Of BRS Conventions
Doha: Minister of Environment and Climate Change H E Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie met with Executive Secretary of the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm (BRS) Conventions, Dr. Rolph Payet, on the sidelines of the Chemical Safety Symposium, which was held yesterday under the theme“Towards the Effective and Safe Management of Chemicals” and runs for two days.
The meeting discussed aspects of cooperation between the two sides and ways to strengthen international partnerships in the fields of chemical safety, waste management, and monitoring of hazardous pollutants, in addition to the exchange of technical expertise.
The Minister of Environment and Climate Change stressed Qatar's commitment to supporting international efforts to address global environmental challenges, particularly those related to biodiversity loss and pollution, noting the importance of enhancing cooperation with the secretariats of the three conventions to develop national policies and build capacity in this vital area.
Dr. Rolph Payet commended the efforts made by Qatar in the areas of sound chemical and waste management, sustainability, and environmental protection, stressing the Executive Secretariat's readiness to expand cooperation with Qatar through joint projects and programmes that support the achievement of global environmental goals.
