Jeremy J. Michalek is a Professor of Engineering & Public Policy, Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering (by courtesy), and Director of the Vehicle Electrification Group at Carnegie Mellon University. His research focuses on technical, economic, environmental and policy dimensions of transportation and energy.
Michalek earned his B.S. from Carnegie Mellon (1999), and his M.S. (2001) and Ph.D. (2005) from the University of Michigan in mechanical engineering. He worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Michigan before beginning his faculty position at Carnegie Mellon.
Michalek teaches courses in entrepreneurship, mathematical optimization, design, and electric vehicles. His research has appeared in outlets such as the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and NPR and he has co-authored and presented policy briefs across federal and state governments.
