French National Assembly Votes No-Confidence In Government Over Debt Plans

Amman, Sept 8 (Petra) – France's National Assembly on Monday voted to withdraw confidence from Prime Minister Francois Bayrou's government over its plans to reduce the country's rising public debt.
According to Agence France-Presse, 364 deputies voted in favor of the no-confidence motion, while only 194 supported Bayrou.
Assembly President Yael Braun-Pivet said, "Under Article 50 of the Constitution, the Prime Minister must submit the resignation of his government," while the Elysee Palace announced that President Emmanuel Macron will appoint a new prime minister in the coming days.
