Lebanon's Pres.: Lebanon Is Integral To Arab World

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BEIRUT, Sept 8 (KUNA) -- Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said Monday that Lebanon is an integral part of the Arab world, urging a unified Arab stance and support for the Arab Peace Initiative.
During a meeting with Arab Parliament President Mohammad Al-Yamahi, Aoun thanked Arab states for backing Lebanon through difficult times and condemned ongoing Israeli attacks - most recently on the Hermel highlands - alongside the devastation in Gaza and periodic strikes in Syria, calling for a joint Arab response, the Lebanese Presidency said in a statement.
Al-Yamahi underlined the Arab Parliament's full support for Lebanon's security, unity, and sovereignty, rejected any external interference, and said Lebanon's stability is vital to Arab collective security.
He also backed efforts to confront Israeli violations, secure Israel's withdrawal from occupied Lebanese territory, rebuild affected areas, and return residents to their villages.
After the meeting, Al-Yamahi said the Arab Parliament supports Lebanon's reform process and will continue coordination with the Lebanese Parliament. (end)
