Diplomats Shown Damage To Government Building After Russian Strike

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko stated this in a Facebook post, as reported by Ukrinform.

Together with Ukraine's Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko and Deputy Head of the President's Office Andriy Sybiha, Svyrydenko briefed 60 heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Ukraine on the aftermath of one of the largest Russian airstrikes since the start of the full-scale invasion. Diplomats were shown the damaged floors of the Cabinet of Ministers building, which is currently undergoing recovery efforts, with roof repairs set to begin soon.

Svyrydenko emphasized that the September 7 attack marks a new phase of the war, with Russia doubling the number of Shahed drones used in strikes against civilians and energy infrastructure ahead of winter, and now deliberately targeting government institutions.

“This is a clear signal that Russia does not want peace and openly ridicules the diplomatic efforts of the civilized world. This is an existential war. Among those killed yesterday were a two-year-old child and a young mother. Russia is killing our children-and with them, our future,” she wrote.

She expressed gratitude to the diplomats, noting that their presence in Ukraine that morning was a powerful gesture of support for the country's fight for existence.

Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha added on social media that the briefing focused not only on the damage to the government building, but also on the broader scale of destruction and civilian casualties caused by Russia's latest large-scale attack across Ukraine-including in Kyiv, Sumy, Kremenchuk, Odesa, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, and Zaporizhzhia.

“We emphasized to our foreign colleagues that with such barbaric attacks, Russia is rejecting peace efforts and diplomacy. Therefore, to achieve peace, it is necessary to increase sanctions on Moscow and strengthen Ukraine,” Sybiha stated.

As previously reported, on the night of September 7, Russia launched drone and cruise missile attacks across Ukraine. In Kyiv, 20 people were injured and three killed.
