Türkiye Beats Japan in 2025 FIVB


(MENAFN) The Turkish Women’s National Volleyball Team achieved a historic milestone by overcoming Japan 3-1 in the semifinals of the 2025 FIVB Women’s World Championship in Bangkok, Thailand, securing a spot in the tournament final for the very first time.

Japan began the match strongly, controlling the opening set with solid defense and effective attacks, ultimately winning 25-16. Türkiye bounced back in the second set, with standout performances from Melissa Vargas and Eda Erdem Dundar, dominating 25-17 to even the score.

Maintaining their momentum, Türkiye kept the pressure on Japan during the third set, pulling ahead early and holding the advantage to take it 25-18, moving ahead 2-1 in the match.

The fourth set turned into a nail-biter, as both teams exchanged points and reached a 24-24 tie.

Türkiye maintained composure in the final moments, clinching the set 27-25 and securing a 3-1 victory overall.

Türkiye will now face either Italy or Brazil in the championship showdown on Sunday at 3.30 pm (1230GMT).
