A tragic incident unfolded near Talarzai Bridge within the jurisdiction of Michni Gate Police Station, where police officer Safdar Khan was shot dead, authorities confirmed on Sunday.

According to police sources, the body of Safdar Khan, son of Akbar Khan and a resident of Tarnab, Charsadda, was discovered a short distance from his motorcar. He was serving as a Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (PASI) in the investigation wing of Paharipura Police Station.

Senior police officials, including Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmed and SSP Operations Masood Ahmed, along with investigation officers, swiftly arrived at the scene. A forensic team collected evidence as police launched a probe into multiple possible angles surrounding the incident.

The deceased officer's family has reached the police station and a formal FIR will be lodged based on their report. Officials have assured that timely updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.

Authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the attack, but initial investigations are underway.
