Turkey reaffirms its readiness to take step to end Ukraine’s war
(MENAFN) Türkiye has once again emphasized its readiness to take a leading role in all efforts to achieve lasting peace in the Russia-Ukraine war, Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz said following the latest Coalition of the Willing summit.
In a post on Turkish social media platform NSocial, Yilmaz noted that he attended the fifth Leaders Summit of the Coalition of the Willing online, marking his fifth participation on behalf of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
“During the hybrid-format meeting, hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron, discussions focused on diplomatic efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, following an initiative started by US President Donald Trump,” Yilmaz said.
He added, “Türkiye reiterates that we are ready to lead in every field to ensure lasting peace, prioritizing diplomacy and dialogue. Until a fair and lasting resolution is reached, we will continue to support the diplomatic process with all our resources.”
The statement follows last month’s Alaska summit between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, with ongoing efforts to establish a ceasefire and organize a summit including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
As a nation maintaining friendly relations with both Russia and Ukraine, Türkiye has played a unique and active role in peace initiatives since the conflict began in February 2022.
