SOCAR Deepens Foothold In Bulgaria As Europe Looks To Azerbaijan For Energy Security

These steps align with broader developments across Europe. The Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), which delivers Caspian gas to the continent, is undergoing its first expansion phase. Binding commitments already secure an extra 1.2 bcm annually from 2026, with the possibility of further increases depending on demand. TAP, linked to Bulgaria through the Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria, is thus poised to deepen Azerbaijan's integration into European energy security frameworks while also supporting EU decarbonization goals. For Bulgaria, this means not only guaranteed supplies but also the possibility of becoming a regional gas hub.
