“Prime Minister Fico of the Slovak Republic and I discussed energy issues. We are ready to supply gas and oil to Slovakia-but only if it's not Russian gas or Russian oil. Because we are at war. That's the bottom line,” Zelensky said.

He added that Ukraine is aware of many alternatives and projects and is ready to work in that direction.

“If it weren't for the energy difficulties caused by Russian strikes, we could have cooperated with Slovakia in this sector. We had a surplus at any time of the year before Russia's attacks on our energy system. If not for those strikes, we would have continued working together,” Zelensky noted.

At the same time, he emphasized that Ukraine is currently responding to Russian attacks on its energy infrastructure.

“And we will continue to respond. But we want this war to end,” Zelensky said.

As Ukrinform previously reported, the meeting between President Zelensky and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico in Zakarpattia had concluded.

Earlier that same day, President Zelensky also held a bilateral meeting with European Council President António Costa.
