Egypt: Imposing Unilateral Security Arrangements Not Allowed
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))
CAIRO, Sept 5 (KUNA) -- Imposing unilateral security arrangements that undermine the region's security and stability is not permissible, Egypt's Foreign Ministry affirmed on Friday.
In a statement, the ministry commended the Arab League's adoption, at the ministerial level during the 164th session, of the resolution concerned with "the joint vision of security and cooperation in the region" that was issued by an Egyptian-Saudi initiative.
The ministry stressed that regional security could be achieved through firm commitment to the regulating principles cemented by the resolution that topped with the respect of countries' sovereignty and territorial integrity, and avoiding interfering into their domestic affairs and the use of military force without an international legitimacy framework.
Endorsing the resolution embodies the Arab League's will and consensus for crystalizing a ruling framework of regional security and collaboration based on the rules of international law and responding accurately to conditions the region is going through, it stated.
Egypt stressed commitment to working with all Arab states and international partners to translate the resolution into practical steps that enhance regional security and restore momentum to the path of a fair settlement of the Palestinian issue, it noted.
In addition, Egypt warned against a deadlock in the prospects for settlement, which constitutes a major factor of instability and a driver of fear, hatred, and violence regionally and internationally, the statement concluded. (end)
