Sakina Itoo Criticises J & K Admin Over Eid-E-Milad Holiday Decision
J&K Minister Sakina Itoo
Srinagar- Cabinet Minister Sakina Itoo on Friday voiced strong resentment against the administration for what she termed as mishandling of the Eid-e-Milad holiday observance in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a post on X, Itoo wrote,“This is totally unjust that Eid-e-Milad, a sacred occasion for Muslims worldwide, is not observed as a holiday on the correct date in J&K. What does 'subject to appearance of the moon' mean if it is not followed? Despite repeated requests from the elected Government to shift the holiday, no action has been taken.”
She further accused the administration of“playing with the emotions of the people,” insisting that such matters should rest with the elected dispensation and not, in her words, with a“selected administration.”
Earlier, officials from the General Administration Department had confirmed that the holiday on account of Eid-e-Milad would be observed today.
