Possibilities Of A Multipolar World For A Lasting Peace Are Emerging
Unending armed conflicts are unfolding across various regions of the world. As a result the global security is perhaps facing a degree of uncertainty not witnessed since the Second World War. Crisis-ridden capitalist institutions may outwardly appear powerful and dominant, yet their inability to resolve the pressing problems of the people has exposed their inherent weaknesses. In such conditions, these forces have historically sought to advance their interests by fostering instability, a tendency clearly visible in contemporary global affairs.
Nowhere is this more evident than in the Middle East, where, under the overt patronage of US imperialism, Israel is perpetrating atrocities against the Palestinian population. As per the news the U.S. President Donald Trump has even advanced proposals whereby Palestinians would be“encouraged” to leave Gaza voluntarily in exchange for a meagre sum of $5,000 per person. Those who chose to remain would be confined to an extremely restricted territory under inhumane conditions, while the rest of Gaza has been envisioned as a glittering tourist hub to be branded as“Developed Gaza.” Such a plan is both deeply inhumane and aimed at consolidating control over the oil resources of the region. Israel's continued expansionist designs on Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and the West Bank-where it seeks to fragment Palestinian territories through settlements-illustrate the underlying geopolitical motives.
The future trajectory of these developments remains uncertain, yet the warning signals are unmistakable. NATO's eastward expansion, Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the protracted war that followed, and the steady supply of advanced weaponry to Zelensky by the European Union and the United States-all point toward an intensification of global conflict. More recently, agreements enabling American corporations to secure control over Ukraine's mineral wealth and agricultural lands underscore the exploitative dimension of this crisis.

In Africa, wars are being waged over the control of critical rare minerals, even as famine-like conditions afflict certain nations.
In the absence of progressive global forces, the prospects for peace appear bleak. The collapse of the Soviet Union and the subsequent weakening of the Non-Aligned Movement-once spearheaded by India-have left a significant vacuum in the international arena. India's retreat from this role has further compounded the crisis.
Yet, history demonstrates that political configurations are never static. Recent developments such as the BRICS summit in Brazil and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting in China signal the emergence of alternative platforms. These initiatives have the potential to reshape global alignments, offer new directions, and counter the renewed ambitions of imperialist and erstwhile colonial powers seeking to reassert dominance.
However we have to understand that the present Geo political situation is dominated by the market oriented ruthless business interests in the name of national developments. The emergence of grouping like BRICS and SCO can show directional change for cooperation among the developing Nations against the imperialist neo-colonial designs. In the absence of an alternative economic global setup it may not be easy to turn them around soon because the economies are at present under the control of super corporates where interests of the common citizens are marginalized.
Whereas is the declaration of the BRICS talked of disarmament the SCO has been more focused on economic cooperation and trade. It is good that India also participated in the SCO meeting in China, but it is unfortunate that India was no where to be seen as a global power to bring around Geo political change. As a big country with large population India is viewed as a potential market for consumer as well as non consumer goods including the arms.

It is therefore important to build trust for a lasting mutual cooperation. South Asia is full of mistrust among the countries of the region. It is only through a continuous dialogue among the South Asian countries that trust deficit can be resolved. Trade has to be equitable. There has to be respect for each other sovereignty. While talking at International forums local politics has to be kept aside while the national interest has to be taken care of with a broader perspective.
The recent war between India and Pakistan where Pakistan was covertly supported by Chinese warfare technology has reduced the trust among the three nuclear powers. It is time for a positive action by all. China has to shed its expansionist designs, Pakistan should stop proxy war and India should rid itself of the rhetoric of 'Akhand Bharat'. (IPA Service )
