As the minister noted, work is currently underway to ensure the safety of the educational process and create conditions for children to attend school in person.
To this end, shelters and underground schools are being created in educational institutions, for which the government has allocated UAH 11.2 billion. Thanks to these funds, 33 new underground shelter schools were put into operation by September 1. By the end of the year, it is planned to open another 156 underground school shelters, and the construction of another 47 is planned to be completed in 2026. In total, according to Lisovyi, there are currently 14,010 shelters operating at educational institutions. 461 shelters are in the design or renovation stage.
“Thanks to these infrastructure solutions, more than 100,000 children will be able to return to face-to-face learning this academic year. These are mostly children from frontline and border regions,” Lisovyi emphasized.
