QSL Cup: Rodrigo Hat-Trick Powers Al Rayyan To Big Win Over Qatar SC

Doha, Qatar: Rodrigo fired a hat-trick and provided an assist as Al Rayyan outclassed Qatar SC 4-1 in the QSL Cup at Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Stadium yesterday.

Rodrigo broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute, picking a through ball from Hazem Ahmed Shehata and slotting home with a composed left-footed finish.

Said Mohamed Brahmi levelled in the 40th minute for Qatar SC, finding the net from close range in a goal-mouth melee following a corner kick.

Gabriel Pereira restored Al Rayyan's lead in the 48th minute. Rodrigo latched onto a cross from Abdalla Yousif and set up Pereira, whose strike bounced in off the left post.

Rodrigo added his second in the 67th minute, finishing off a fine move after meeting a cross from Mohammed Saleh to make it 3-1.

The former Spain striker then sealed the win in the 86th minute with his third goal of the match.

At Stadium 974, Umm Salal secured three points with a commanding 3-1 victory over Al Shamal. Umm Salal took the lead in the 21st minute through an own goal by Mohamed Musa. Al Shamal were reduced to ten men in the 63rd minute after Musa committed a foul on Oussama Tannane. Abdurrahman Al-Rashidi doubled the advantage in the 69th minute, before substitute Khaled Walid Mansour put the game to bed in the 90+3rd minute.

Omar Ali had earlier pulled one back for Al Shamal in the 90th minute.

Al Khor blank Al Bidda

Earlier, Al Khor defeated Al Bidda 3-0 in a clash between Second Division sides at Al Khor Stadium. Al Khor started strongly, with Ali Awad giving them the lead in the fifth minute. They doubled the advantage just seven minutes later, with Mekki Mohsen Tombari finding the net in the 12th minute.

The dominant performance continued into the second half, with captain Sofiane Hanni sealing the win in the 58th minute.

Elsewhere, at Al Shamal Stadium, Youssef Snana scored a first-half brace as Al Sailiya edged Al Shahania 2-1 to claim three points.

Snana opened the scoring in the 16th minute and struck again in the 39th minute to give Al Sailiya a 2-0 lead.

Al Shahania fought back in the second half, with Ali Al Muhannadi pulling one back in the 64th minute. The goal sparked an intense finish, with both sides trading attacks during stoppage time, but Al Sailiya held on for a hard-fought victory.
