Ajloun, Sep. 2 (Petra) -- The dense forests of Ajloun have emerged as one of Jordan's most popular destinations for nature enthusiasts and leisure seekers, offering tranquil settings, scenic hiking trails, and fresh mountain air that attract visitors year-round.
According to Rami Al-Adwan, Director of Agriculture in Ajloun, the governorate implements continuous monitoring and protection measures to safeguard the forests from fires and illegal encroachments. He added that ongoing afforestation programs aim to expand green spaces and preserve this natural heritage for future generations.
Adi Al-Qudah, Director of the Ajloun Forest Reserve, highlighted the region's rich biodiversity, which includes oak, pine, and cypress trees, alongside a variety of designated walking trails for visitors. He stressed the importance of protecting the vegetation to maintain ecological balance and ensure the sustainability of these natural resources.
Environmental advocate Ibtihal Al-Samadi, Vice President of the Nasmah Shawq Tourism Association, emphasized that Ajloun's forests form an integral part of Jordan's natural landscape. She called for increased environmental awareness among visitors to protect the unique flora and fauna that define the area.
Similarly, Shaher Shaaban, a member of the Environment Unites Us initiative, described the forests as a vital environmental reservoir that helps regulate the local climate. He urged visitors to follow environmental and safety guidelines to preserve the natural beauty and health of the ecosystem.
Abdulrahman Al-Asouli, head of the Kofranja Forum, noted that the forests also serve a social and cultural role, providing spaces for recreation while educating younger generations about environmental stewardship.
