North Korean Leader Tours New Missile Factory

(MENAFN) North Korean leader Kim Jong Un conducted a tour of a recently launched missile production facility, aiming to evaluate the nation’s weapons manufacturing strength, according to state media on Monday.

Media reported that Kim visited the combined missile production line of a key munitions enterprise to review the overall missile output capacity and its future outlook.

He was joined by top officials from the ruling Workers' Party and defense industry executives during the inspection.

This facility review occurs as Kim prepares for his first multilateral diplomatic engagement since taking power in December 2011. The 41-year-old leader is set to attend a significant military parade in China this Wednesday, hosted by Beijing to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.

Approximately 26 foreign dignitaries, including presidents and prime ministers from Russia, Indonesia, Pakistan, and India, are expected to participate in the event.

Throughout his tenure, Kim has never attended United Nations sessions or other global summits, with North Korea enduring severe international sanctions over its nuclear weapons program since 2006.
