Erdogan Holds Meeting with Azerbaijani President


(MENAFN) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a meeting on Monday with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, during which he voiced contentment with the ongoing developments in the peace dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Tianjin, China.

According to a statement issued by the Turkish Communications Directorate and shared on Türkiye's local social media platform NSosyal, the two leaders delved into matters of mutual interest, encompassing both regional and international dynamics, in addition to their bilateral relations.

President Erdogan conveyed his satisfaction with the momentum of the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process, affirming that "Türkiye would continue contributing to the process."

He underscored the necessity for Ankara and Baku to harmonize their regional advancement strategies moving forward.

He highlighted that both nations would persist in enhancing collaboration across a wide range of sectors, "particularly energy and transportation," suggesting a continued strengthening of strategic ties.

The meeting was also attended by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov, indicating high-level engagement from both sides.

Erdogan had arrived in China the previous day, Sunday, where he also held separate bilateral talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
