Egyptian FM Says Egypt Shared Desire To Advance Bilateral Relations With Qatar In All Fields
Cairo: The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates of the Arab Republic of Egypt HE Dr. Badr Abdelatty emphasized the shared commitment of Egypt and the State of Qatar to advance their bilateral relations across all fields, under the direct guidance of the leaders of both countries.
In his remarks to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the sidelines of the 6th session of the Joint Higher Egyptian-Qatari Committee on Thursday, HE Dr. Badr Abdelatty said that the convening of the committee at this time is a true reflection and embodiment of the distinguished level of the relations between the two countries and the two fraternal peoples in light of the directives of the leadership of the two countries.
He added that they discussed today several issues, especially how to advance trade relations between the two countries, particularly since they witnessed an increase of more than 54 percent in the last year compared to the previous year, and to benefit from the important investment opportunities available in the Egyptian economy, in light of the radical reforms undertaken by the Egyptian government to create a favorable environment for investment.
His Excellency indicated that the two sides discussed the implementation of what was agreed upon between the two fraternal countries regarding pumping USD 7.5 billion new Qatari investments in the sectors of agriculture, food security, real estate development, tourism, and new and renewable energy, as well as the files related to cooperation in the education and culture sectors, especially after the State of Qatar recently hosted Egyptian cultural events during the "Year of Egypt in Qatar," and within the framework of continuing to further advance relations in implementation of the lofty directives of the leaderships of the two fraternal countries.
His Excellency added that he had the opportunity to meet with HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, bilaterally, to discuss in detail several regional issues, particularly the Palestinian cause and the tireless Egyptian-Qatari efforts to halt the aggression and war of extermination waged by Israel against the innocent, defenseless Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
Concluding his remarks to QNA, HE Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates of the Arab Republic of Egypt Dr. Badr Abdelatty noted that the two sides also discussed ways to address the blatant Israeli violations in the West Bank, and discussed a number of issues related to the Palestinian cause, especially early recovery and reconstruction after reaching a ceasefire, as well as other regional issues such as Sudan, Libya, Syria and Lebanon.
He added that the two countries affirmed their full condemnation of the repeated Israeli aggression on Syria and Lebanon.
