Iran, Pakistan army chief plan to in battle terrorism hand in hand


(MENAFN) The top military officials of Iran and Pakistan expressed their commitment on Tuesday to strengthen cooperation in countering terrorism and maintaining security along their shared border, according to reports.

In a phone conversation, Iran’s Chief of Staff Abdolrahim Mousavi and Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir discussed bilateral military relations and other matters of mutual concern.

Mousavi emphasized the importance of safeguarding the common border, lamenting the increase in terrorist activity on both sides. He affirmed that “the Iranian armed forces [are] ready to cooperate with their Pakistani counterparts to root out terrorism in the region and ensure the security of the shared border area.”

He also commended Pakistan for its support of Iran during the recent conflict with Israel, stating, "We expect that practical actions be taken against terrorists in view of bilateral cooperation."
