Trump Expresses Anger At Putin Amid Ongoing Strikes On Ukraine, Says Peace Still Possible

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) U.S. President Donald Trump voiced anger at Vladimir Putin over continued Russian strikes on Kyiv but insisted peace talks remain possible, stressing urgency to end Ukraine war.
U.S. President Donald Trump said there is still a possibility of reaching a peace deal to end the Ukraine war after his latest conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Trump, speaking to reporters on Monday, August 25, described the talks as“good,” but admitted he was angered by Russia's recent missile strikes on Kyiv.

He added that Putin showed no interest in meeting directly with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, remarking that“he doesn't like him.” Despite this, Trump insisted,“I think the war will end soon.”

At the same time, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani emphasized the importance of providing Ukraine with clear security guarantees. He said Italy was ready to participate in mine-clearing operations on land and at sea.

The remarks underscore the fragile state of diplomatic efforts, where the United States signals cautious optimism, while Russia's continued aggression raises doubts over a near-term breakthrough.

Trump's statement reflects a potential opening for negotiations, but the lack of trust between Moscow and Kyiv remains a major obstacle. Whether dialogue can produce tangible results will be tested in the coming weeks.

European partners, including Italy, are reinforcing their role by offering practical support, signaling that wider international cooperation could play a key part in shaping the path to peace.
