KP Prepares To Hand Over 55 Colleges To Private Sector Final Decision Pending

The Higher Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has completed preparations to hand over 55 colleges in the province to the private sector and has issued a list of these institutions. Among them, Dera Ismail Khan tops the list with seven colleges.

According to Secretary Higher Education Kamran Afridi, a final decision on the privatization of these colleges has not yet been made. However, efforts are underway to enhance the capacity of these institutions.

He stated that a minimum enrollment of 500 students is required for a college to operate effectively, but many of these institutions have a significantly lower number of students. In some cases, evidence of fake enrollments has also been found.

The secretary clarified that the final decision regarding privatization will be taken keeping in view the better future of students and the improvement of educational standards.
