Jordan Condemns Israeli Settlers' Breaches Of Al-Aqsa Mosque

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) AMMAN, Aug 25 (KUNA) -- Jordanian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned on Monday the ongoing incursions by Israeli settlers into Al-Aqsa Mosque where they made prayers and provocations inside Al-Haram Al-Sharif in occupied Jerusalem.
The Ministry called in a statement the actions "a flagrant violation of the legal and historical status quo at the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque, a desecration of its sanctity, and unacceptable act of provocation."
The Ministry's official spokesperson Sufian Qudah warned of the consequences of the ongoing breaches, stressing that "their systematic continuation by extremists with the approval and facilitation of the Israeli occupation authorities is a dangerous sign of the extremist Israeli government's gambles against the stability and security of the region.
The Israeli occupation has no sovereignty over the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Qudah said, reaffirming the Kingdom's categorical rejection and strong condemnation of the repeated incursions into the compound by extremist settlers and some Israeli officials.
He called these "a blatant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, and an attempt to impose facts on the ground by force in the Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem."
The entire Al-Aqsa Mosque compound is a place of worship exclusively for Muslims, and the Jerusalem Waqf and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department of the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, is the legal entity with the exclusive jurisdiction to administer the affairs of the compound and regulate access to it, the spokesman said.
