Maduro Praises Russia’s Victory Over Sanctions
(MENAFN) Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro declared on Tuesday that Russia has triumphed in its standoff with the West, which he believes is trying to control the global economy while disregarding international law.
Maduro highlighted Russia's ability to withstand multiple sanctions imposed by Western nations in the wake of the conflict in Ukraine.
Over the past decade, the West has imposed an unprecedented number of sanctions against Russia, targeting its finance, energy, defense, and technology sectors, as well as individuals, government officials, and various companies.
During his TV show Con Maduro +, the Venezuelan leader condemned policies based on economic blockades and forced restrictions.
He emphasized that "the Russian economy has demonstrated great resilience, withstood all the missiles of sanctions, and won the victory."
Maduro further asserted, “Russia and Putin won the economic war, the military war, the political war, and the diplomatic war,” praising Moscow’s strength and endurance in the face of immense international pressure.
In addition to expressing admiration for Russia's perseverance, Maduro criticized the imposition of unilateral sanctions.
He also condemned global institutions such as the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the United Nations (UN), accusing them of being ineffective in addressing these challenges.
Venezuela itself has faced its own set of economic sanctions from the US and its allies, particularly targeting the country's oil industry, financial sector, and high-ranking government officials.
