Arab League Condemns Israeli Plan To Reoccupy Gaza, Displace Population

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Arab League has strongly condemned the Israeli Security Cabinet's approval of a plan to reoccupy the Gaza Strip, place it under full Israeli control, and forcibly displace the residents of Gaza City, pushing the majority of the population into a narrow area in the south of the enclave.
In a statement issued Friday, Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit described the plan as a clear reflection of Israel's long-standing intentions and objectives since the beginning of the war on Gaza, to fully reoccupy the territory and expel as many of its residents as possible.
He affirmed that the Arab side categorically and unequivocally rejects and condemns this plan, as does the broader international community.
Aboul Gheit warned that the Arab League has repeatedly cautioned against allowing Israel to continue its criminal and frenzied war against the Palestinian people, aimed at erasing their national identity and eliminating their cause.
He stressed that the time has come for the international community to take a firm stand to stop this bloody campaign.
He further stated that the Israeli government seems oblivious to the extent of its international isolation, brought on by its relentless war of extermination that has lasted nearly two years.
He noted that members of the Israeli government are driven by extreme ideologies or narrow self-interests, showing disregard even for the fate of Israeli hostages held in Gaza.
The Israeli Security Cabinet's decision to invade Gaza City and expand military operations in the remaining cities and refugee camps comes amid a severe humanitarian crisis and massive destruction.
Since the war began on Oct. 7, 2023, the conflict has resulted in 61,258 Palestinian deaths, 152,045 injuries, over 9,000 missing persons, hundreds of thousands displaced, and widespread famine that has claimed many lives, including dozens of children.
