Germany dispatches fighter jets to Poland

(MENAFN) Germany has dispatched a fleet of fighter jets to Poland as part of efforts to reinforce NATO's eastern flank in light of growing tensions with Russia, according to defense sources.

Five Eurofighter Typhoon jets from the German Air Force have been deployed to the Minsk Mazowiecki Air Base, located east of Warsaw. These aircraft will support Polish forces in conducting airspace surveillance operations throughout the region.

"This deployment demonstrates NATO alliance solidarity and provides credible deterrence while protecting our shared airspace," a German Air Force spokesperson stated.

The mission involves nearly 150 German military personnel currently stationed at the Polish base. The deployment is expected to continue for roughly one month.

Poland plays a vital role in facilitating Western military assistance to Ukraine, serving as a key logistical and strategic hub. The German Air Force has been supporting Poland in monitoring its airspace since April. Previously, the jets participating in this mission were based out of Rostock in northern Germany.
