(MENAFN) A fatal workplace accident occurred Tuesday morning at a construction site in Carlingford, northwest Sydney, resulting in one man’s death and another hospitalized in critical condition.

Emergency responders were dispatched around 9 a.m. to the site, located 18 kilometers from central Sydney, where they found two men suffering severe injuries. Local reports indicate a concrete pump fell onto the workers.

Paramedics treated the injured men, aged 40 and 30, on the scene before rushing them to hospital. According to a police statement, the 40-year-old succumbed to his injuries in hospital, while the 30-year-old remained in critical condition as of Tuesday afternoon.

Meriton, the apartment developer and operator of the construction site, issued a statement confirming full cooperation with the relevant authorities investigating the incident.
