SEC Newgate Picks New Managing Partner For China Outfit

(MENAFN- PRovoke) HONG KONG - Global communication and advocacy group SEC Newgate has appointed William Brocklehurst, an experienced corporate affairs adviser, as Managing Partner of its SEC Newgate China business.

Brocklehurst, who will be based in Hong Kong, will lead the firm's next phase of growth and development across the Chinese market, building on the strong foundations laid by former managing partner James Hill over the past five years, who is returning to Europe, it said.

Brocklehurst brings with him significant agency and in-house corporate communications experience and expertise, having worked in the Chinese market for more than a decade.

Brocklehurst joins SEC Newgate from Brunswick where he was a director in the Hong Kong office, having previously also worked for consultancy Teneo and healthcare company Bupa. Prior to working in Hong Kong, Brocklehurst worked for the business group CBI in the United Kingdom.

“We are delighted to welcome William on board to lead the next stage of SEC Newgate's global growth in this critically important market. We see significant potential in China and believe William's 20 plus years of experience in strategic communications, public affairs, and geopolitical advisory will benefit our clients and help us to further grow our regional presence," said Brian Tyson, SEC Newgate's head of APAC region and deputy group CEO. "William brings significant in-house corporate affairs expertise having worked for over a decade for global healthcare company Bupa both in the UK and then in Hong Kong, where he advised on the company's public affairs strategy for market entry into China.”

SEC Newgate China specialises in corporate and public affairs, financial communications, crisis and issues management, with long established offices in Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai.

This comes shortly after SEC Newgate appointed former Weber Shandwick leader Peter Coolen as CEO of Wepublic , its Dutch consultancy agency specialising in corporate and public affairs.

Coolen will lead the firm's next phase of growth and development, following SEC Newgate's acquisition of Wepublic in 2023. Wepublic co-CEOs Maaike van Hooidonk and Mark van den Anker will be stepping down to focus on personal projects.
