Türkiye’s Stock Market Starts Midweek with Sharp Drop


(MENAFN) Türkiye’s primary stock index, the BIST 100, started trading Wednesday at 10,210.76 points, marking a 0.14% decline—or 14.72 points—compared to the previous session’s close.

On Monday, the index dropped 1.28% to 10,225.48 points, with daily transaction volume hitting 88.8 billion Turkish liras ($2.2 billion). The exchange remained closed Tuesday in observance of the July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day.

By 10:00 a.m. local time (07:00 GMT), currency exchange rates were recorded at 40.2490 Turkish liras per US dollar, 46.8390 per euro, and 54.0075 per British pound.

Meanwhile, the price of gold per ounce was $3,338.90, and Brent crude oil traded at $68.30 per barrel.
