The Panamax Alpha 2025 Joint Exercise With Panama And The US Begins With Phase 1 -

(MENAFN- Newsroom Panama) Panama City: The military operation seeks to strengthen interoperability between forces and the protection of the Panama Canal. At the Teniente Octavio Rodríguez Garrido National Aeronaval Service air base, located in Panama Pacific, phase one of the joint exercise Panamax Alpha 2025 began, a training operation led by Panamanian units and the United States Southern Command. The exercise involves at least 80 units from the National Aeronaval Service (Senan), the National Border Service (Senafront), and U.S. troops, with the aim of strengthening bilateral cooperation in security and defense.

Deputy Commissioner Maiko Palacio, director of operations for SENAN, explained that the training is taking place at strategic locations such as the Panama Pacifico Airport, the Cristóbal Colón Base Airport in the province of Colón, and the National Police tactical training center in Cerro Tigre. In addition, reconnaissance will be conducted in the Punta Pacífica area, specifically at the Panama Clinic Hospital heliport, as part of the preparation protocol for evacuations or emergency medical care during the operation.

“The goal is to strengthen relations with the Panamanian security forces, improve interoperability between our units, and be prepared to face any threat,” said a Southern Command spokesperson. The exercises will run until Friday, July 18, and are focused on improving response capacity to potential threats to national security, particularly around the Panama Canal.
