Germany Rejects Sending More Taurus Missiles to Ukraine

(MENAFN) Germany has ruled out providing Ukraine with additional Patriot air defense units or long-range Taurus missiles, according to Defense Minister Boris Pistorius in an interview.

Pistorius emphasized that Berlin must focus on its own national defense requirements due to the limited number of remaining Patriot systems.

In the interview published on Sunday, Pistorius explained that Germany had already delivered three of its Patriot systems to Kiev, reducing its arsenal from the original 12.

“We only have six left in Germany,” he remarked, highlighting that two are stationed in Poland and at least one more is either being serviced or used for instructional purposes.

“That’s really too few, especially considering the NATO capability goals we have to meet. We definitely can’t give any more.”

Pistorius mentioned ongoing discussions with Washington to potentially acquire two Patriot systems from American reserves to send to Ukraine.

US President Donald Trump recently confirmed his intention to authorize the transaction.

The German minister also urged domestic arms producers to ramp up manufacturing efforts under the broader REarmEurope initiative.

This call is part of a strategic push to counter what Berlin describes as “Russian aggression” — a characterization that Moscow has consistently dismissed as baseless.
