Moph Launches National Qualifying Examination For General Dentists
(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has launched the national electronic qualifying examination for general dentists. This initiative is part of the Ministry's ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of healthcare services provided to patients and to develop the professional registration and licensing system in line with the highest international standards.
The exam aims to raise the competence of dental professionals and ensure the delivery of outstanding healthcare services. It seeks to increase patient confidence and trust in Qatar's healthcare system.
The initiative contributes to harmonising licensing procedures with global benchmarks and reaffirms the country's commitment to applying the highest standards of quality and reliability in the health sector, reinforcing Qatar's position as a regional centre of excellence in healthcare.
The qualifying exam is one of the fundamental prerequisites for obtaining a licence to practise as a general dentist in Qatar. It ensures the competence and eligibility of general dentists before entering the workforce. The 3.5-hour exam includes 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with a minimum passing score of 60%.
The Department of Healthcare Professions at MoPH explained that the exam is delivered electronically via the "Prometric" platform. The platform allows candidates for up to five attempts without time restrictions if they do not pass on the first attempt, providing greater flexibility for preparation and self-assessment.
The exam content and references have been updated to reflect scientific advancements and modern practices in dentistry. New policies ensure precise evaluation of academic qualifications and practical experience and define the scope of practice according to stringent standards.
