Houthis call for safe navigation of Red Sea, excluding Israel
(MENAFN) Yemen's Houthi forces restated their stance on maritime security Tuesday, declaring their continued commitment to safe navigation for all vessels in the Red Sea—except those associated with Israel or aiding its military actions in Gaza.
"We affirm our commitment to freedom of navigation for all except the Zionist enemy and those who support it in its aggression against Gaza," said Mahdi Al-Mashat, president of the Houthi Supreme Political Council, as reported by Houthi-controlled media.
Al-Mashat urged shipping companies that are not connected to Israel to coordinate with the group’s “Humanitarian Operations Center” in Sanaa and to follow naval directives issued via radio communication to ensure their safety.
"All shipping companies must adhere to the instructions and decisions of our armed navy forces, and whoever ignores them will bear responsibility for that," he stated.
His remarks came just hours after the Houthis released video footage through their al-Masirah satellite channel, showing an attack on the MAGIC SEAS vessel in the Red Sea, for which they claimed responsibility.
