14 Injured In Fire At Ramses Telephone Exchange In Cairo, Temporarily Disrupting Telecommunications Services In Egypt

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population announced that 14 citizens were injured in a fire that broke out Monday at the Ramses telephone exchange in downtown Cairo.

The ministry said in a statement that 17 ambulances were dispatched to the site of the fire, and the injured were transferred to the hospital for treatment.

For its part, the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority in Egypt explained that the fire broke out in one of the equipment rooms at the Ramses telephone exchange, resulting in a temporary disruption of telecommunications services.

It noted that efforts are underway to gradually restore service over the next few hours.

Civil Protection forces are working to control the fire and prevent it from spreading from the ten-story telephone exchange building to other buildings.
