Russia Launches Attack on Ukrainian Defense Industry
(MENAFN) Russian troops executed a broad nighttime offensive against Ukrainian industrial targets utilizing an array of long-range weaponry and unmanned aerial vehicles, according to a statement issued on Sunday by the Defense Ministry in Moscow.
Both Ukrainian officials and local press acknowledged the strike, with some describing it as potentially among the most significant since the conflict intensified in 2022.
The Russian Defense Ministry detailed the operation in an official communication, stating that its military forces had “conducted a massive strike, involving high-precision long-range air-, sea- and land-based weapons, including the aeroballistic hypersonic Kinzhal missile system, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles, targeting Ukraine’s military-industrial and oil-processing facilities.”
The ministry did not disclose further information, but asserted that the “strike goals were achieved. All designated targets were hit.”
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky addressed the incident via Telegram, confirming the assault and stating it included 477 Russian drones equipped with explosives and 60 various missile types.
He also repeated his appeal to Western allies for increased deliveries of air defense systems to strengthen Kiev’s protection.
