Türkiye Applauds Historic DRC-Rwanda Peace Agreement

(MENAFN) Türkiye applauded the historic peace agreement signed Saturday between the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Rwanda, brokered by the United States.

According to a statement from the Turkish Foreign Ministry, the implementation of this pact is expected to significantly advance prosperity and peace for both countries, while promoting stability and development across the Great Lakes Region.

Türkiye reiterated its support for peace-driven initiatives across Africa.

The accord was finalized Friday in Washington by the foreign ministers of the two nations, aiming to end decades of brutal conflict.

Key provisions of the deal commit both parties to respect territorial sovereignty, halt hostilities, disengage and disarm non-state armed groups, establish a joint security coordination framework, and ensure refugee returns, humanitarian aid access, and enhanced regional economic collaboration.
