Drone Attack Targets Iraq’s Taji Military Base

(MENAFN) Authorities reported on Tuesday that a drone attack struck a section of the Taji military base, operated by the Iraqi army just north of Baghdad.

Lieutenant General Walid al-Tamimi, who leads the Baghdad Operations Command, informed Iraqi media that an unidentified drone targeted an area inside the base.

He confirmed there were no injuries resulting from the strike and indicated that more information would be released in due course.

Some local media sources suggested the drone hit a French-made radar system located within the base.

The Taji base, formerly used by US-led coalition forces, was transferred to the Iraqi army in 2020.
