Israel, Iran Reach Ceasefire Deal
(MENAFN) A truce between Israel and Iran officially began at 0400 GMT on Tuesday, following a period of heavy confrontation during which Iran launched six waves of missile barrages aimed at Israeli land.
The Israeli military verified that 11 missiles were discharged in six back-to-back waves from Iran prior to the enforcement of the ceasefire.
The Israeli emergency medical services reported that at least six individuals lost their lives, and 15 others sustained wounds—some in serious condition—after a projectile struck a housing complex in the southern city of Beersheba.
Explosions were also detected in Tel Aviv and various parts of central Israel, according to Israeli news sources.
Iranian news agencies likewise acknowledged the initiation of the ceasefire, mentioning it commenced following the "final salvos" of missile launches.
Before the ceasefire began, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority and the army's radio station reported its onset, although Israeli authorities maintained silence and avoided making any official declarations.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had directed his cabinet members to avoid making any public remarks regarding the truce.
The announcement of the ceasefire initially came from US President Donald Trump, who stated that it would be implemented in stages: Iran would initiate the cessation of military actions first, followed by Israel 12 hours afterward.
A complete termination of conflict would then be declared after 24 hours.
