Iran states no serious damage of facilities after US attacks

(MENAFN) Iranian reports indicate that the Fordow nuclear facility sustained only minor damage during the recent U.S. airstrikes, contradicting claims made by U.S. President Donald Trump. According to local sources, most of the damage was limited to surface structures and can be repaired.

Trump had previously asserted that the Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan nuclear sites were “completely and totally obliterated” during the overnight strikes carried out by American forces.

However, Iranian lawmaker Mohammad Manan Raisi, who represents Qom Province where Fordow is located, challenged this statement. “Contrary to the claims of the lying US president, the Fordow nuclear facility has not been seriously damaged, and most of what was damaged was only on the ground level and can be restored,” he said, according to reports. He also emphasized that the bombing had a largely “superficial” effect, with no casualties or radiation leaks reported at the site.

Additional Iranian officials supported this assessment. Hasan Abedini, a senior figure within Iran’s state-run broadcasting network, stated that the Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan facilities had been evacuated in anticipation of the U.S. strike. He added that enriched uranium had been removed prior to the attack, leaving no materials that could result in radiation exposure or endanger the public.

Deputy Health Minister Alireza Raisi echoed this assurance, stating that there was no danger of radioactive contamination for nearby residents, according to media accounts.
