Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, represented by the Wildlife Protection Department, in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipality's General Cleanliness Department, carried out an extensive clean-up campaign in the northern region during the Eid Al-Adha holiday.

The campaign focused on Semaisma Beach and included raising awareness among beachgoers about the importance of preserving the area's environment, especially the meadows and wilderness areas.

The campaign resulted in the collection and removal of large quantities of waste scattered on the beach, ranging from plastic cans, bags, and wood waste, which were then transported to designated sites.

The Wildlife Protection Department was keen to launch this campaign during the Eid Al-Adha holiday, distributing special waste collection bags to encourage visitors to adopt responsible practices that contribute to environmental protection, and to raise awareness about practices and violations that harm the environment. This is especially important as working towards local environmental sustainability is a shared responsibility between the Ministry, the government and private sectors, and community members.

This campaign comes as part of the MECC's efforts to preserve biodiversity in coastal and wilderness areas, and as a continuation of its ongoing initiatives and projects aimed at protecting the local environment.

Through these campaigns, the Ministry aims to raise community awareness of environmental issues, enhance the sense of individual and collective responsibility in preserving Qatar's natural resources, and promote environmentally supportive behaviors among all members and segments of society.

The MECC affirmed its continued efforts to monitor and address any negative phenomena affecting wildlife, calling on the public to cooperate and contribute to keeping the beaches clean.
